Registered Tangible Cultural Property
Seikiro
Seikiro Ryokan is said to have been founded in Honmachi between 1688 and 1704, and it was relocated to its current location in 1901.
After that, it was expanded three times and renovated to its current form.
This three-story wooden structure is a valuable example of modern Japanese-style architecture and is a registered National Tangible Cultural Property.
Seikiro is known for hosting writers and journalists such as Tokutomi Soho, Kawahigashi Hekigoto, Noguchi Ujo, Kikuchi Kan, and Yoshikawa Eiji, as well as politicians like Yoshida Shigeru and Shimomura Kainan. Some of their calligraphy and writings are exhibited within the ryokan.
Seikiro reflects the landscape of modern Miyazu and the history of Amanohashidate. It is also important for understanding the cultural exchange of intellectuals who used Amanohashidate and Miyazu as a stage for their activities.
